
Bangkok Fashion Week 2005 and 2006 which was held to promote Bangkok City of Fashion has given birth to many young designers. While opportunity is the most needed among new comers, Graduation Fashion Week - a stage to showcase works of those fashion students - is gradually recognized among fashion manufacturers.
The development of the fashion students comes up with the first Thailand Graduate Fashion Week 2008 (TGFW2008) scheduled to take place from July 17-20, 2008 at CentralWorld’s several spots at different zones including Forum, Central Court, Eden, Atrium and Outdoor Area.
CentralWorld will join hands with AV Projects in organizing a press conference on June 30, 2008 at The Offices @ CentralWorld’ first floor. The press conference will be participated by many supporters who will come on stage to talk on the details of the event including AV Projects’s president Ponlawat Sookcharus, art4d’s Managing Editor Pratran Teeratada, CentralWorld’s Marketing Director Kantapol Phanitrat, Siam Commercial Bank’s Advertising and Promotions Senior Vice President Manager Supee Pongpanich, British Council’s (Thailand) Arts Manager Mallika Iamla-or, Extreme Advertising Co.,Ltd CEO Kajtbodint Sudlabha, Belink Media Co.,Ltd’s Creative Director Tanachai Thanomsub , Met 107 Station Director Jamorn Jirapaet and Spicy disc’s Artist Win Siriwong.
Group of press will experience fabulous works of graduated fashion students from various institutions including Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok University, Srinakarinwirot University, Thammasat University Rangsit Campus, Rajabhat Thonburi University, Rangsit University, Mahasarakham University and Raffles Design Institute Fashion Design. Selected collections will be presented by ML Athadis Diskul and Yuwanart Arayanimitsakul (Nart Season Change) accompanied by professional models.
“Make It Bloom” is the core concept of TGFW2008. The event is sponsored by Boon Rawd Brewery, AV Projects, Contango, CentralWorld, Fashion Institutions Nationwides, Siam Commercial Bank Plc, British Council (Thailand), Spicy disc, Center Point @ CentralWorld, Thai Models Association as well as media alliances featuring Art4d, Chic Channel, Daybeds, Dichan, Wallpaper, MET107 Thaicatwalk.com and U-Channel.
The activity is held to give an opportunity to those fashion students graduated in the year 2007 to show off their graduation works. Among 20 institutions nationwide providing fashion and jewelry academic include Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, Silpakorn University, Srinakarinwirot University, Kasetsart University, Burapa University, Bangkok University, Rangsit University, Mahasarakham University, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Kasem Pundit University, Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep and Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Chiang Mai, etc.
The event consists of six activities as follows:
TGFW Academic Catwalk Shows is a fashion show and competition showcasing thesis of nationwide fashion students. The shows are designed to presented in two styles:
Theater A : Catwalk Show, a full-scale fashion show on world standard runway presented by professional models. The catwalk will be set at Forum zone where thesis of the 40 students from 13 academic institutes is also on display.
Theater B : Fashion Happening, a fashion show presented in awesome happening style around Central Court featuring designing works on clothes and accessories by 20 students from 10 academic institutes who are not eligible to enter the TGFW2008 awards.
Academic Showcase is an exhibition showcasing outstanding designs selected by nationwide fashion students. Presenting in a form of Fashion Showcase, the exhibition is set in Atrium zone.
TGFW Fashion Talks is seminars and talk sessions to share experience by fashion veterans.
Education Days setting in Eden zone features booths of nationwide fashion institutes to present curriculum, academic and students’ works.

College Flea Market / Mini Concert, a flea market selling Limited Edition designed by students, plus music performances performed by students from many institutions and artists from Spicy disc at CentralWorld’s outdoor area.
Highlight not to be missed is a fashion show showcasing special collection of Teerabul Songwich, one of the world-acclaimed Thai designers. Teerabul graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and a master degree from Royal College of Art, London. British Council (Thailand) will present special collection of graduate students from Kingston University who are the winner of “British Fashion Council College Portfolio Award”.
TGFW Awards 2008 is also aimed to be a stage to search for the best fashion thesis and reward them the young budding designers. Among the fashion gurus who join the jury include Bhanu Ingkawat, Pratran Teeratada, Roj Singhakul, Chaichon Savantrat, Polpat Asawaprapha, Ploenchan Vinyarat and Jittima Wattanasin.
Thailand Graduate Fashion Week is not only held to encourage those fashion students to show off their talents and potentials to the manufacturers and give birth to young designers, but also intends to provide academic information to students who want to pursue their education in fashion design.
The event is the first ever held in Asia and the second in the world after London Graduate Fashion Week which was as well received as the professional designers stages.
